For absorbed dose estimation in external beam radiation, a correctly calibrated ionization chamber is required. All dosimetry procedures and codes of practice for high-energy photons and electrons contain the usage of an ionization chamber with a calibration coefficient for 60Co gamma rays.

The Secondary Standard Dosimetry Laboratory (SSDL) of Shri Sai Calibration Services provides calibration services for various ionization chamber models with electrometer and radiation survey metres used in brachytherapy and high intensity photon and electron beam radiotherapy.

Our primary responsibility as an SSDL is to provide calibration services, including the dissemination of knowledge about calibration techniques and hands-on support to instrument users in radiotherapy applications.

We have incorporated the IAEA’s recommendations into our processes and procedures to maintain the standard of the calibration method.
